The Cloister at Sea Island
Location: St. Simons Island, Georgia
Client: The Sea Island Company
This classic hotel, designed in 1928 by Addison Mizner had been a well-known property along the south Georgia coast for over 70 years. Age and technology took its toll and the Sea Island Company decided to rebuild it from the ground up. EcoPlan was asked to join the design team to assist in the overall site design and project layout. Site “hardscape” components included vehicular and pedestrian circulation, special paving, fountains and courtyards. Landscape was done in association with Vassa Cate, the landscape architect of record with the Sea Island Company.
