RiverCamps at Crooked Creek

Location: West Bay, Florida
Client: The St. Joe Land Company

EcoPlan provided Master Planning services for this 1500-acre site that includes 400 home sites, a River House, and various recreational amenities. This environmentally sensitive site contains over 850 acres of wetlands of which less than 5 acres were impacted by road and site development. The design approach was to create a community of “cabins in the woods.” Narrow wooded lanes lead to enclaves of homes oriented to either bay, marsh, river, wetland or “grass lakes.” The grass lakes were created by opening up the pine forest to reduce the planted pine “grid” and to also increase amenity value to the site’s wooded interior. Unique, native ecosystems or “jewels” are connected by a site-wide interpretive trail system of paths and boardwalks that connect to all residential enclaves.
